I have seem many street car turn club racers use the "S car Go" headers, but they can not accept "silencers" (mufflers) so it is going to be very loud. I suppose you could weld on a super trap at the end of it to tune it down.

As for the OBD-2 software there is no place for the 2nd set of the O2 sensors to go on the "S car go" headers so the check engine light will go off, unless you install a 2nd o2 sensor emmulator.

If you need more information on the o2 sensor emmulator please let me know.

The correct, informed and definitive answer is that there are several brands of performance headers for all 993s from 1994-1998. This same information can be applied to 1989-1994 964 model Porsches too. Your choices are : do you want headers with or without heat? Do you want to run catalytic converters and do you need/want to run a muffler system to reduce sound? Fabspeed Motorsport has supplied all of the above systems for 993 owners worldwide and has tried and tested, not just speculated or guessed, on these variuos exhaust headers. Furthermore, Fabspeed has supplied header muffler kits for many S-Car-Go header customers (even sent the systems to S Car GO) that have 964s or 993 with S Car Go racing headers dont have to run straight open headers that are super loud.

So a 993/964 owner only need to know exactly what they want and Fabspeed Motorsport can provide the correct parts and or give you friendly competent advice and even full installation services.

Once again:
the decision you need to make for buying 993 headers/ 964 headers are 1) do you want heat? 2) do you need catalytic converters to pass emissions? 3) do you want a muffler system? 4) what primary size do you want 1.75" versus 1.875" tubing? 5) do you want tips. Contemplate this and make up your mind and Fabspeed can supply everything that you will need. The controversy over the topic of headers for a street 993 remains. The question is, what do after-market headers buy you for a 993 street and every now and then track car? Keep in mind that a lot of the HP increase from the 964 to the 993 came about as a result of the Porsche factory improving the design of the headers on the 993. You already have a very nice set of Factory headers on your 993. I will predict that headers on a otherwise stock 993 won't buy you that much...but, they will look pretty, and with aftermarket mufflers, they will sound great. You probably won't be going much faster though.

If you have a track car...this is a whole different story..addressed in prior posts in this string, Fabsport, S Car Go, etc.

If you are a DE driver, the greatest measurable performanced "bang for the buck" will be Race Tires (Kuhmos?), and next, suspension to include springs, shocks and sway bars. All of the above IMHO, of course.

Martin,
You are correct. Replacing headers is not cost efective and you will not feel a difference. The best mufflers we ever tested was Techart wich gave us eight hp. on a modifyed 993TT. Very expensive $2600.00 A lot of the high horse power claims come from people that don't even have a dyno.(computor can genetate whatever you want.)On 993 you pay mostly for sound.

Pete.
Ps I think I just screwd our muffler sales.
Oh well at least you can't call me a liar.
