I'll add my 2 pesos here.

There is a cheapo way to check if you are way off (4-7°). Do a static compression check with a leak down test. You check with the leakdown and find equivalent cyl's in each bank. Then do a static comp check. If they read close enough, one can safely assume that your cam events (as correlated to intake valve closure) are similar. Being a SOHC, it also clears the exhaust.
Granted it is not a substitute for cam tuning (plus or minus 4-5°), but will save you a lot of $$. If the readings are way off, then you can initiate the dollar dance! LOL

Talking ANDIAL 2 Degree Timing Sensor Block is sitting....

right here on my desk. I had it extracted from the car today. With the crap gas we get in Cali, I was hearing pinging from time to time. Step 1, add race gas...it worked and pinging goes away.

Step 2, remove 2 degree device to be certain that is not the culprit inducing the pinging. I hear no pings today after surgery....

I am thinking of selling the device to someone who has access to 93 octane gas on a regular basis. 93 octance is hard to find in SoCal. I have yet to find it. But I can find 100 octance at $7.00 a gallon (Ouch).

I'll post a pic tomorrow....
