Which 993 to get ?
Hi everyone !
I need your advice on bying a Porsche. The model which I'm looking for is 993, but which one ?
993 Carrera
993 RS
or 993 Twin Turbo
I would very much like to hear from you your opinions on these models, their relative good and bad points etc.

Its a hard life making these kind of decisions!
I would say a 1998 C4S with the 3.8 engine conversion would be my ultimate 993. Of course, that depends on what use you will make of the car.
Enjoy your search!

I kind of like the looks of TT and RS. The normal Carrera isn't too bad either.
My main use for the car would be fun, fun and fun (occasional track fun too). Don't really need a car... The bicycle is quite enough for my daily trip to work.

993 RS!
Great track car, great looks, light. Used for commute to work on occasions!? This gives you a great start of the day! All Porsches do, but an RS......

I would say that the RS wins on rawness and overall desirability, but it will also be the most expensive to buy.
The 4S has the looks of the TT but without the added running costs, it also probably has less possible problems (but I always am weary of Turbo cars, they are generally more fragile).
On second thoughts, if money is no objection I too would go for the RS, especially if you will only use it for apreciating what a Porsche is all about. The 4S is more the real world choice (you can almost use it as you only car) and thus more compromised.

Fragile!! Turbos are built for even harder circumstances than ordinary 911´s(except RS). Maintain a Turbo well and it will last a long time.

Hard to go wrong with these sorts of choices. The 993TT has several factors going for it: additional hp/torque, AWD, exclusivity. In the rain or snow, the AWD comes in handy.
However, the TT is a fat pig at 3400 lb, and I'd love to have a 2600 lb. Cup car (or something similar) for the track.
Nothing in the world wrong with a standard Carrera, of course, but go for the RS or TT if resources allow. Good luck.

If the car is just for the occasional joyride/track visit, then the choice is clear! RS
However, if you are going to use the car to commute between countries in Europe and/or use the car daily, the tt is significantly quicker but less tactile/raw (=fun)
Not sure what prices are like in Continental Europe but here in Singapore, the RS was cheaper then the tt which made the choice for me a lot easier. Must admit that the hardest part of owning the car is the rawness as a daily driver but still NO REGRETS!

You have the money? Or is this just a BS question to stimulate conversation?
OK, unlimited budget:
For street/track combo use: I'd get the TT.
For track only: the 993RS

Combine 993 RS and 993 TT and arrive at 993 GT2, that's the car you need man. But given those three, I'd personally go for the 993 turbo, just because it's got lots of potential even if it doesn't start out quite where you want it.

To Ray: No this is not a BS-question, I really intend to buy one. (And unfortunately the budget is not unlimited, but it'll allow any of the previously listed models.)
I do have my own preferences, but I really appreciate the bits of wisdom everybody has kindly contributed !
As for the prices, the RS is a bit cheaper in the europe-mainland than the TT. But there aren't so many around.
At this moment it seems that I'll be looking for the RS.
