My previous p-car was a tip and I could put the seat way back with no problem. I now have a manual and when I put the seat back, my foot tends to slip and I have to put the seat up more than I would like.
Other than the obvious answer of leaving the seat up, does anyone have any experience with replacement pedals. I have seen the ads in Tweeks, AJ's Panorama, etc.
Has anyone used any of these? Are they difficult to install. Do they give better "grip"?
Thanks in advance.
I have the AJ-USA "Competition" pedals (pictured below) with which I've been very happy. I've had no trouble w/slipping. AJ-USA also has a "street" pedal w/rubber inserts. However, if you find the oem rubber to be a problem, my guess is metal pedals won't be a cure.
The install is easy, but does involve removing the oem rubber pedal pads, drilling holes into the steel pedal facing & screwing the new pieces on. BTW, the AJ-USA gas pedal is the only one I've seen that replaces the entire pedal including the hinge & floor mount (i.e., no drilling involved). I like that since not only do I think it looks better, but the metal hinge has a better (smoother) feel for me. Other than that, the change is aesthetic, IMO.
I'll second the AJ USA competition pedals. They look great and minmize slipping. Installation was about an hour and the most complex thing was drilling the holes for the brake and clutch pedals. Too bad I'm not all the way in the digital age or I'd send you some pics.
