Ben,

Thanks for the clarification on the ride height modification. I see what you're talking about now.

Mark, Eric, and Tom -

Thank you for presenting alternative shipping options. I might eventually send it to Alan Gun, but after the hassle I had with installation, it's staying for now!

Matt,

I didn't know about the 20 degree angle limitation, which would certainly seem to make the front seat rail mounting points less than ideal. Should I look at some sort of strut bar or brace under the seat, and switch to a 5-point harness (i.e. just one anti-sub belt)?

As far as a mount point goes, if you have a reliable race shop drill one hole on each side, you should be OK. A little sealant and you're set. I have both connections of my anti-sub belts on 1 eye bolt. I was told it would be sufficient for DE use. It's actually a pretty clean setup, if done right. I'll attach a picture to show you what mine looks like.

As for those silver tabs in the front of the rails, I just don't know! It would appear that they are meant to be additional mount points for a harness, but it seems less than ideal and probably not safe.

After all, you're NEVER selling the car, RIGHT?

Here are the pics. Sorry they're a bit blurry.

Anir - For GT3 seats, isn't there a crossbar that bolts on underneath that is specifically for mounting sub-belts? I thought I recall seeing it listed either at Carnewal or Brey-Krause...I recall that it was listed for GT3 seats fitted into a 996 or Boxster, but I'd assume that it would be similar for a 993.

I haven't fitted harnesses onto my GT3s yet but am very interested in how things turn out.

Anir,
I can help you with the install of the sub belts. I have the perfect drill bit called a uni-bit and it works great. We can either use some large washers or get a backing plate from Racer's wholesale or similar. Easy as Sunday morning. BTW the car looks great.

I just checked on Carnewal and the cross-member for the sub-belt is listed under the GT3 seats for the 996...but it's not listed for the 993. Is there a clearance issue with the Motronic?

Matt,

Thanks for the helpful pics. Maybe, I'll take Greg up on his offer and follow your lead.

Do you increase the risk of rust by drilling through the sheetmetal, or does use of sealant mitigate this risk? I ask because I drive my car all year long - snow, salt, and all.

David,

As you noted, the bar is marketed for the 996 and Boxster. Since the sliders on the 993-version GT3 seats are different, I'm not sure if this approach would work. Plus, it still wouldn't meet the PCA Club Racing regulations about all belts being secured to the car rather than the seat.

I guess this doesn't really matter, since I'll strictly be doing DE's. Also, I'm still quite skeptical about some of these rules, given the fact that Porsche and Recaro specifically designed the lap belts to mount to the GT3 seat (I'm starting to sound like a broken record).

Greg, I hope you enjoyed Cali! Sorry I didn't wait for you to install the seats / bar, but I'm sure you'll survive! I'd still love to mount the PSS-9's with you, possibly at Brian's shop if you're interested (and take you up on the harness installation help).

Off to see the Cats whoop up on Vandi! Go Big Blue! <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />

Anir, the sealant should take care of that. I can find out what my mechanic used for my install, if you like.
