Post Driving observations

My daily commute finds me on the 10W everyday and it was a particularly heavy traffic day in LA. So, while sitting in traffic in a driving rain listening to the weather person saying there is a 70% chance of rain today, I decided to do what I enjoy the most, look at other Porsches. In the hour it took to go the next 6 miles, I observed the following P-cars:

4- 1984-1989 Carreras
3- 964
3- 993
5- boxsters
30- 996
1- 928
1- 924
1- 944 cab

What does this all mean? Nothing. Although seeing all these great cars makes me want to drive the P-car as well, I am thankful I have a daily driver so I do not have to drive my P-car in the rain.

48 Porsches in 6 miles?? One would think that every 4th person in Ca owned a P Car. Chicago has more than a few but I would be hard pressed to see more than 5 or 6 on a summertime drive!
Did any of them give you a flash?

That's funny...I counted the other day from Sausalito back to SF...about 10 miles MAX, and this was on a Sunday afternoon...I counted 13.

I drove in this morning for a change.

Saw a 964 Targa and a 993 Coupe.
And neither had a layer of salt.

Hi Eric, I didn't get the flash because it was bumper to bumper and I was driving my daily driver 4runner! Keep in mind, during rush hour, there are literally hundreds of cars on this short stretch of freeway.

Here in Oregon I see alot of rusty trucks that drop parts on the road periodically. I can go a whole month or two before seeing another 993. Boxsters are seen every few days and 996's maybe once a week.

Phil

I normally take Metra, our local commuter rail system.

It's Eric's tax dollars, hard at work. Thanks Eric, along with 4,000,000 other taxpayers.

Unfortunately, I don't see many porsches when I look out the window, although, there was a really nice 993 cab parked at the Morton Grove station each morning for a while.

The only people I know who work on every day that ends in y are car dealers -- you guys really need a union.

You guys in CA (& probably S FL) live in a different world than the rest of us re: P car sightings. Apart from the 4-5 parked by other tenants in my office bldg, I might see as many as 2 P cars in a day . It's not unusual to see none during a 100 mile highway drive. A Porsche here is a relatively exotic car.

Oh, yeah. The only guys I know who ever commuted to work by helicopter were in the 1st Air Cav.

No flame intended but there is nothing as exotic as our 993's!

Ditto up here North of Dallas. I see one very rarely unless you count Boxsters <img border="0" alt="[icon107]" title="" src="graemlins/icon107.gif" />

HN, you are correct. I was actually travelling West towards Santa Monica and looking at the cars travelling East leaving the Santa Monica or Westside area.
