Post Any experience with L.A. Dismantlers?

I ordered a rear seat delete which I must pay for sight unseen. Has anyone had any experience, good or bad, with this outfit?
Thanks, Gary

I second what Kim said. One time, I was given the cell phone number of the boss (or owner) to ask for the price of a simple item.

The question is, did you ever get the answer to your simple question? I spent a few MONTHS attempting to complete a purchase of over $2500 for a number of items ........phone calls and messages went unanswered, promises made and never kept. While I was waiting I kept finding the items elsewhere one by one.

They do have some great hard-to-find stuff, but I would get it from a guy like Gert before trying LA Porsche Dismantlers again, even if it costs twice as much. That's how strongly I feel about customer service......

Mark,
how could someone like Gert be more expensive when they wanted (from me) something like $2,500 to do an interior swap, from Tan to black. As in, they get mine, I give them $2,500 and I get theirs!! I could most likely buy the bits I needed, used in black for that price then sell mine and get some money back. You know what, it may have acutally been more?

Not high on my list?

Cheers,
Dylan.

Actually, I didn't mean to imply that Gert's prices were twice as high as LA Dismantlers. I meant that I would buy from Gert over LA Dismantlers EVEN IF Gert's prices were double. Hypothetically speaking.

On a side note, I found LA D's prices to be quite reasonable for the items I wanted......unfortunately, they never provided me with one single item at the price they quoted......or any other price, for that matter.

Thanks for the responses. Forgetting about price for a minute, did you get what you ordered and in the condition they promised? The price may be high but I've been trying to get a package shelf for 10 months with no luck. My interest is in getting what they said I would get----the concern I have is that I must give a certified check to Fed Ex without seeing the seat! BTW, I never had a phone call returned either.
Any input will be helpful.
Thanks
Gary

Shooter,
Run don't walk
If they won't return your calls etc what can you really expect if you give them cash?
Have you tried Gert yet?

I agree with the others - I wouldn't even consider giving them cash if they can't return a telephone call. Run, don't walk, away.

Try Oklahoma Foreign ( http://www.oklahomaforeign.com ) - the Porsche dealer that services my car uses them to source used parts for customer cars. Recently, they supplied an intake piece for my '91 C2 ($300 vs. $1,100 new from Porsche). Perfect, flawless service. [no affiliation with Oklahoma Foreign, just a very satisfied customer]

Good luck

As a data point I once needed a 993 door shell. They quoted me $1400 for the used bare shell plus shipping. New, the part is about $1100 with PCA discount from the dealer. I think they sell some used parts over new retail cost. Crazy economics at play over there in the land of plenty.

I just noticed on their site, under the comments section, that they have a few threads from this board. Most of them (mine included) are "Have you tried LA Porsche Dismantlers?".

I am curious to see if they post this thread on their site (sarcasm).

PeanutinCA:

Did you ever do your interior? Where did you end up getting the parts, if so?

No I never did? I posted once before if anyone wanted to swap their black or grey interior for my tan? No responses so never pursued. Wanna swap?

No thanks. I have a black top. I don't know how green, black, and tan would look.
