Thanks for the awesome pictures. Looks like there were some amazing cars at that event.

As a 'local,' if you are trying to make time, I'd advise against taking HWY 1 up the coast on that particular weekend. It doesn't take very much traffic at all to turn the drive into an exercise in frustration. While there are some really courteous folks along that road that will pul over to let you pass, just a few a-holes can spoil it for everyone.
However, if you can get in the mood to enjoy the scenery, and the curves you can have a really nice drive. Drove the 100 miles from Monterey to Cambria and I pulled over to gawk about a dozen times. Since traffic tends to be in clumps you can pull over, get out of the car, take a look around then take off and catch up to the pack. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Midnight on a moonlit night us incredible, too.

So what is the special car that was on display?

Wish I could have made it to that event. I understand that the 944 Turbo's (which didn't make it into the pictures) were passing everyone.
