Default OMG - REAR Boxster Coupe looks better than 997 Rear!

I can't believe it... they put the nice rear bulges on the Boxster coupe but NOT on the 997... huh?

IMO That's not nicer at all. 911 has never had rear "bulges" like that and it shouldn't have.

997 rear reminds 993 rear much more than that and I think it's good they'll make Boxster to look more different from 911.

Wow - that's quite possibly the ugliest rear I've ever seen...Nice lines flowing from the front that all of a sudden FLARE up like some nasty late 60's Caddy...

Maybe they can put a full sized chrome spare on the back bumper a la the 1956 T-Bird Continental kit...

I agree. Assuming that's the final shape of the car, and it's not, that thing looks like a clown. How can you even begin to compare it with the 997, or any other 911, for that matter?

BTW, Porsche is still denying they're working on a Boxster Coupé. I hope that's the case as they don't need a car like that.

I like it. Looks like the 550 coupé they ran at Le mans back in the 50s...

Adrienne - You hit the nail on the head !!

Viken - I'd think if it were stil lin development, they would actually have some sort of temp. body panels...that thing looks like a finished product to me...Regardless, it's just further evidence of Porsche's current styling probs...

Well, there is a precedent. Didn't they copy the Santa Fe when they did the Cayenne?

Honestly, the picture below is what I thought of the first time I saw photos of the Boxster coupe.

I'll have to reserve judgment on the coupe until we see a final product. I've always been a fan of the original Boxster, especially the rear fender design, but I'm not encouraged by what I've seen so far of the coupe.

It would be pretty easy to make a current boxster look like that. Just build the top, put 996 door windows on with custom side and rear glass pieces, blend the lines onto an existing boxster, and voila! Either way, IMO, it looks heinous.
