Actually, those rear fenders look like the first generation Z3, after its 'freshening' when they put a big rise in the rear fenders.

From these angles I think it looks somewhat unbalanced.

Hey 993Dave,

A picture of the famous "Pig of Plastique" from Satch Carlson! What ever happened to him? The last I heard/read was he was writing for Roundel after Autoweek and I last had a BMW and was in the club in '93. "What a looong strange trip it's been" !!!!!!

Bruce: you know far more about this than I do ... but after some quick consultation with my research assistant, Mr. Google, I'm pretty sure it's not Carlson's car. It is a Sonnet, though, and in pretty nice condition.

On the Boxster again: The pictures Mike linked to are ones I had seen before, and I thought the car looked pretty nice. Part of the reason, IMO, is because they used a quarter window that is consistent with the brand (i.e., 911-esque). This new prototype has an unattractive quarter window that shares nothing with the family of cars from which it arose. Even a 944-style window would be preferable, in my mind. Well, the Porsche folks got it pretty close to right with the 997; I'm willing to believe that they can figure out how not to screw up the Boxster coupe.

Hmmm, I kinda thought it reminded me of something. I used to love those cars back in the day.

If those are real pictures of the boxster, it's weird looking, looks like they stole the design from somewhere, I've seen it before, just can't remember where.

I was about to say "Tiburon", but Adrienne beat me to it.
