Question Proper Tire Inflation?

I bought a '98 C2S about 3 weeks ago, and am interested to know what tire inflation I should actually be running.

I know that the Owner's Manual states 36 front and 44 rear, but I've NEVER heard of such high tire pressures on any car.

What is the best pressure for me to run on the street? I don't track the car, nor plan on doing so.

For 18" you will get responses all the way from 32/34 to 36/44, and I have tried all of them. I have read about under inflation causing cupping, but that does not necessarily mean it does. I have twice experienced wheel damage over a pothole when running 32/34. My preference is 34/40.

It all depends on the driving characteristics you are looking for. Generally, a 2 psi differential works well on a Porsche. Start with 36/38 and work your way down from there.

For 17" cup wheels, I run 32F/34R COLD pressure. Great setup for street driving.

On the track, I'll drop the pressure 1-2psi's (cold psi)..

I run 34/40 on my 18" and 36/36 on my 17".
