Talking Bumper cover conversion completed (almost)

Anybody out there pondering the conversion from the N.A. bumper cover to the Euro cover, do it!...the difference is amazing...just getting rid of those stupid little bumperettes was worth the entire cost...unfortunately, I still can not separate the spoiler from the old bumper cover so I am looking at adding a GT2 front spoiler instead...anybody seen one of these on a non-GT2?...

The actual GT2 spoiler will not fit a Carrera S bumper cover. It is designed for the standard 993 bumper. However, there are a few aftermarket companies who manufacture a similar spoiler to fit the widebody bumper.

Lonn,

The GT-2/Supercup front splitter will not fit the euro twin turbo front bumper cover that you have just installed on your car. The GT-2/supercup front splitter is specifically made for the narrow body bumper cover.

You can purchase the original Porsche GT-2/Supercup front splitters either from Porsche motorsports from Gert in Belgium, or you can buy a replica unit from MA Shaw.

I have installed this front splitter aero kit on several cars before. Take a look at the DIY section of my web site under How to install an aftermarket aero kit for details on why it is only for the narrow body bumper cars.

I think you would have to "downgrade" to the standard front end and add the spoiler to that. Go to Gert's web site and check out his aero kits, he could probably get the parts for you.

I thought all the GT2's had the "rivited" fender flares...the one in the "GT2" picture appears like a conventional widebody with GT2 spoilers, front and rear...

Lonn,

There are several spoiler options.

The Supercup and the GT-2 all uses the same front spoiler/spiltter.

Here is a picture of a Factory 993 Supercup car.

The GT-2 car do have the riveted fenders to accept wider size wheels. Here is a picture of it.

But both the front of the GT-2 and the Supercup car have the same splitter based on the narrow body 993 front bumper cover.

Lonn,

Have you looked into the possibility of getting a new Turbo S spoiler to go with the new ROW bumper cover?

Lonn, I added MA Shaw Turbo 'S' splitter to my euro bumper. Check out picture below.

I'm glad this topic has come up. I've been deliberating as to what front I want to convert to. I have two questions that hopefully someone can answer.

1. Based on various photos I have seen and contradictions between books, it looks to me like there are three front spoiler/splitter aerokits -i) Std. aerokit splitter ii)RS aerokit splitter and iii)GT-2 splitter. Can someone confirm this. The Std. splitter and RS splitter look very close and could be the same but hard to tell from the angle of the photos.

2. The RS has a nice rocker panel/side skirt to go along with the front splitters. Does anyone know if the RS was based on a narrow body and will the RS rocker panels fit on a narrow body 993? If not, are there other rocker panels available for a 993?

As always, thank you, in advance.

Yes, the RS aero kit is based on the narrow body 993. Check out Gert's, he has all the aero kits you want... and not to mention that doing business with him is great.

Spoke with a half dozen shops around the country and found out that nobody has had success separating the spoiler\bumper cover...the only option appears to be cutting and grinding what's left which of course can seriously affect the aposition of the spoiler lip opon reinstallation...so yesterday I was in my garage pondering the dilemma over a six pack and slowly began to appreciate the aesthetics of the bumper cover sans spoiler...upon seeing how nice Ron's looks though, I believe another trip to the refrigerater is in order it'll probably cost me more in beer than the cost of the new spoiler before I make up my mind (what's left of it)...btw, can anybody estimate what a fair price would be for selling the old bumper cover\spoiler (firmly attached)...thanks
