RS sway bars were loose! (from track time?)
I installed the RS (adjustable) front and rear sway bars on my 993 a few months ago.
I put the car up on jacks yesterday to check everything after a weekend at the track. Both of my front and rear sway bar mounts (where the rubber bushing is) were loose. Re-torqued them per the manual. I doubt it would have been catastrophic, but I'm glad the mounts didn't come fully loose at the track.
And yes, I did check them before heading to the track.
Does anyone know if higher torque settings apply for track use for suspension items?
Thanks,
John

People who track their cars should always do a 'nut & bolt' check, especially if you've stiffened your suspension. Lots of things can and will shake loose on the track.

Thanks Guys!!
Yeah, record Bump.
(After a search, I found the very question I wanted to ask. But found no replies.)
After my first autocross, I noticed a squeak from the front passenger side.
I replaced the suspension last Spring, Bilstien HD/ROW 030 springs/sways and I had not greased the bushings when I replaced the front sway bar. I thought I just needed to grease the bushing to stop the squeak but upon inspection, both front sway bar bracket bolts seemed loose.
The torque spec for the bracket bolts is listed as 23nm or 17 Ft/Lbs. That seemed fairly light when I re-tightened then after greasing the bushing last night. I just felt they should have been cranked a bit tighter. The nuts were new when I replaced the sway bars last spring.

Brought my 95 993 to the dealer for a "dealer-sponsored" pre-track inspection this past summer. They found the rear swaybar nut loose on the driver side and missing on the passenger side. Immediately brought the 993 back to my independent who had recently taken the rear swaybar off/on to replace my clutch/flywheel. They reattached the swaybar. Brought the 993 to my independent yesterday to replace the stock swaybars to M030 sways. They found the rear swaybar bolts to be loose again! This time my mechanic said they used all new locking nuts when Installing the M030's. Going to Infineon in a couple weeks. We'll see if the sways stay secure this time. Could explain why I spun in turn 4 last time ....... or maybe not!!!!

I've never seen a car that shakes fasteners loose like my 993, it seems that there is always something loose, last was a screw holding the wheel well liner in place
do your own nut & bolt check before any track day
and
use blue locktite

So true, I figured this out this summer when my car was making some odd sounds from the front end. I started too look around in the trunk and fount the bolt and nut missing off the strut brace? Now I blue locktite everything!

after a track day the battery bolt came off and my battery was sliding all over the trunk. I was lucky nothing more happened.....
i added another bolt and use blue locktite.
