Default My seat is stuck!

Before this weekend, I had never tried to move my passenger seat. But I wanted to install the Brey-Krauss fire ext. mount there. So I moved it back and forth to get to the bolts. Front right bolt stripped and I had a 2-hr. nightmare getting it out. Anyway, in fighting the bolt, I had move the seat forward so I could get the rear bolts out and hopefully rock the seat around, maybe loosening up the front one that I had stripped. Anyway, I got the stripped bolt out and used one of the rear bolts in its place to mount the fire ext. bracket, figuring, I'd just go pick up another bolt and put them all back in. Now my seat will no longer move forward or backwards. It goes up and down and the back of the seat moves, but the seat will not move on the sliders. What to I do here? I only have the two front bolts holding the seat down, as I cannot move it forward to replace the rear bolts. Help!

Check your power seat drive shaft (Porsche part 928.521.252.04) They are the goofy spiral rods that drive the motors to slide the seat front and back. They connect to a mini differential in the front of the seat under a black plastic cover. The coiled shaft is under a plastic tube...you can slide the tube out of the differential and see if you have a wire nest...fairly easy to change out, just make sure you get the new ones lined up exactly with the drive or you will uncoil your brand new part (ask me how I know)...

I have no wire bird's nest down there. All looked pretty normal. I'll do some more looking around. Thanks.

My seats usually get stuck when they are moved all the way back. The way I get them unstuck is while holding the power button down, give the seat a good push in the same direction as you are holding the power button down in. Not very scientific but seems to work every time. Good luck!

Aaah, gotta love those sports seats with manual for/aft adjustment! ;-)

Maybe a good upgrade Rick?

Both of my seats and seat-backs get stuck because I seem to have a problem with the seat switches. Try to toggle the switch quickly, i.e. press it slightly multiple times (always works for me). I seem to be the only guy in this board with this problem, all others are stripped shafts, or have the seats not work whe they're all the way forward (or back), etc.

I use Joe's technique

And.... I think a 'variation' on that is to raise the seat high and then.......then shaking/pulling on the top of the seat back (pushing on button) generally gets her free.

Any advice on unsticking a manual seat?

I took mine out this weekend to install a DAS sport bar and harnesses. passenger side when in and out without any problem. Driver's side is stuck forward. And, since it is stuck forward, the rail is over the front mounting bolts so not a lot of hope in getting to them.

Mine got stuck once. The wife is 5'0 and I am 6'3". I was told to putthe seat all the way back and move it up about an inch. It has worked for about a year.

Hope this helps.

Problem is I CAN'T move it all the way back - or back at all. It's stuck all the way (too far?) forward.
