Question Wheel cleaning

While washing and vacumning the 993 today I was once more struck by the difficulty of cleaning the turbo wheels without removing them from the car. The holes between the spokes are too small to put a hand thru and the spray on/rinse off wheel cleaners work less effectively than advertised. Has anyone out there come up with a clever tool or technique?

I've actually gotten away from using wheel cleaner at all, I just use a separate rag and wash the rims with soap and water now. It's not that much more difficult than the P21-S I used to use and not as harsh on the finish.

That being said, I used to use the P21-S gel, which adheres a little better, let it sit for a couple of minutes, then use a damp Detailer's Choice wheel brush to get in between the spokes. The brush is soft but flexible, it can be bent into an angle, and just gently agitating the P21-S and then rinsing with a strong stream of water got the rims very clean. I would think folding a washcloth and getting it in between the spokes would have the same effect.

You can find those wheel brushes at most auto parts stores; Larry Reynolds will sell it to you at his website, www.carcareonline.com

I recently posted this same question and concluded that a rag or brush is the only way to get them totally clean. Many people suggested the P21 wheel cleaner...which I ordered and tried. It does a decent job, but a brush/rag is still required to finish the job. Also, after shipping charges, my bottle of P21 gel costs ~$15...and I had to use about 1/2 of that bottle to cover (4) wheels...and then I STILL had to use a rag. Bottom line...get a brush/rag and go for it.
