Post engine our opportunity

I am currently having a valve job done on my 95 993. I have found the evil bad harness and am having that and all the hydraulic lifter replaced, since the engine is out of the car. Any other suggestions for corrective or preventive opportunities at this point in the repair. New to the board and am impressed with the level of knowledge adn commitment to these awesome cars. Thanks

Tom,
How about replacing the spark plug wires. I don't know what your milage is but my '95 has 57K and the insulation is certainly showing signs of deterioration, though I'm not manifesting any of the dreaded wiring harness issues....yet. I think I also remember someone saying some time ago that the belt for the distributors is a DIY pain; so that might be a worthwhile preventative measure with the engine out (I don't have first hand knowledge on this so take with a grain of salt). BTW, how many miles do you have on the car, and what prompted your doing a valve job, if you don't mind my asking?

Go ahead and replace the power steering belt--major pain to get to w/ the engine in. If you do it yourself, take off the dustcover first, then you will see 2 bolts. Loosening those will loosen the ps pump, so you can take the belt off. BTW, the tension is not adjustable. How many miles is on your 993? Was it smoking, or consume a lot of oil?

Tom,
Probably not the type thing you were thinking of, but you might want to replace the struts that hold the engine cover lid open. Much easier to get to sans engine.....

To the other good suggestions:

Replace the clutch slave cylinder.

Look at the clutch; shouldn't be much of a charge besides the parts to do it now.

Considering myt '95 has 62K milse, I'm curious too why it needs a valve job.
