the center caps on my wheels (colored) have faded... is this a common problem?

Yes. I repainted mine using a fine brush and model paint. Painted several color coats followed by a clear coat. Very easy to do & still looks great after 2+ years.

Alternatively, there is a person (Melissa) who paints/re-paints wheel caps from her home. No personal experience (& no affiliation), but a number of posts on other Rennlist forums have raved about her wheel cap repainting. Unfortunately, the bookmarked website I had for her is dead, so I've no idea how to contact her.
