Post Heat cycling, Tires Shaving, Kumho Tires and Kinesis Wheels

At the link below, you can access a recent article I wrote for San Diego PCA and POC:
<a href="http://www.porscheclub.com/pdf/WriteUpRev.PDF" target="_blank">http://www.porscheclub.com/pdf/WriteUpRev.PDF</a>

These bloody articles take a lot of time to research and write...I am burned out for a while.

Martin,

I used Kumho Victor Racers for a year of DE's on my Twin Turbo (approx 10 events), and was very pleased with the wear. They were both shaved and heat treated by the Tire Rack.

The trick was run them at about 40 psi 'HOT'.

Hey Martin,

I just wanted to echo Rick in Portlands statements. I have also been using Kumho Ecsta V700's heat cycled and shaved by tire rack since January. I have driven 6 days at Sebring at have been extremely happy with the tires. They still have a good deal of tread/use left. They also "Seem" to take a bit longer to warm up than the Hoosier counterpart but continue to increase in grip through the entire 1/2 hr session.
I also used to use the Kumho Victor Racers (also heat cycled and shaved) when I had my Audi S4. I think both set ups are great and worth the money.

Thanks for the great article..

Martin,

Nice article. What about other tires like Pirelli PZero C....do they also "require"
heat cycling?

Supposedly, from all I have heard and read, all race tires could benefit from heat cycling in that it drives out some of the crud that comes with new tires and tightens the mollecular structure of the tire. Once they are heat cycled and allowed to cool for 24 hours, when you hit the track with them...they will be up to 100% right now...not after several laps.

I am no tire engineer...I am passing on the info I got from Kumho. I would talk to the Pirelli high performance tire rep and ask that very question.
