Post The ROW look??

I am considering either replacing my bumper cover on my 993TT with a ROW model or having the existing cover re-painted and modified to the ROW look. The cover is in quite good shape (the car now has 30K on it) as Kim and Jeff can attest to, but I want to clear bra it and I understand you need to start with perfect paint for this to look good. Anyway, I am curious as to whether this would be considered a turn off should I need to sell it later. I prefer the ROW look without the bumperettes as the lines in the front are much cleaner, but do not want to hurt the value of the car (I should note that the car is already modified with a 500HP kit from Weissach, so maybe I should not worry).

I have the Euro bumpers front and back (ie no bumperettes), clear signals in the front etc. IMHO it looks much better and I can't see it taking away from the value especially since your car is quite modified anyways.

Definately go for it! My take is that it'll be a better selling point for the car becuase:

a) it'll look better since it's new paint and will look better longer because of the stoneguard protection

b) it'll save the trouble of the next owner having to do it

Are you doing to use Dell's for the paint? What about the stoneguard? Have you found a good place to do that? I'd like to replace the decals forward of the rear wheels at the same time.

I'm planning to do this also, but will probably have to wait until the end of the year becuase of a big upcoming vacation trip.

Hi Jeff - if I do it I would use Dell - not only is his work excellent, he is an all around good guy.

Kim - if I wanted to just loose the bumperettes, which lights do I need to replace? In the back, I presume it is just a matter of filling holes?

Bill,

I can't help but think that a potential buyer would feel more comfortable with the modification if you actually used the factory ROW bumpers offered by Gert, rather than patching the holes left by bumperette removal. The added advantage would be that the original bumpers are available should the next owner want to return the car to stock.

When I upgraded to RSR mufflers, I bought cores from ebay for $100 and sent these to Robin. My original mufflers are hanging on the wall if I ever want to put them back on the car.

This sort of originality might not matter in the immediate future, but when our cars are 20 - 30 years old, it will be nice if all the original parts are still available.

Hi Anir - I agree and should I do this that would be the plan. My car has upgraded GT-1 turbos, and I still have the original IC and K-16s (lord knows why anyone would want to go back to those, but you never know I actually thought I would get more "don't do it" responses, but it seems to be that people do not see this are a detrimental modification.
