weight loss

Bill -
The compressor in the engine compartment alone was 15 - 20 pounds. In addition, I removed all the lines, a tank on the inside wheel well and the condenser that is located between the two front fans. I estimated about 5 pounds for the coolant.
Bill
So does you airbag light come on now?

Hey, I'm dead serious! Forgot to mention...
(*) Carbon-fiber sea-bands-- -2 oz.
$200k on my humble little garage queen? Not even I could manage that. Maybe you threw me and Hank Cohn in together by mistake? He's just as low-keyed as I am when it comes to project cars

Airbag light? I have not noticed but my first track event since the airbag delete is Thursday. The driverside airbag was replaced by a RS wheel months ago and the shop may have pulled the bulb. The brake indicator light and the immobilizer light flash but I have small black tape blocks over them. Hey its a track car!
The a/c compressor did not seem that heavy. The lines are all aluminum so weighed nothing. I took out that box in the left front (condensor ?)

I took all the A/C stuff off and put it in a box. It was right around 40 pounds. The piece I am talking about sits between the two fans that blow the air through the vents. It is under the front hood, under the black cover right pass the windshield. If you follow the AC lines that go into the hood area. It is attached to it. This did not weigh much though. Around 5 pounds.

Bill,
RS aluminum doors 19.5 lbs. each.
Stock steel doors 35 lbs. each.
I have a set of RS doors that I decided not to use on my 993 turbo. E-mail me if interested.

...........another fool-proof 100% guaranteed way to save another 100lbs and make the car even much faster. If you weigh 225lbs........hire Emmanuel Collard ex Supercup champ to drive your car.
In order to save 225lbs......hire "Q" from her majesty's secret service to design a 007 radio controlled 993! <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

Kim, Phill and Chicago Bill and John Does #1 through #100:
I (we) will be pulling out the factory seat in neighbor's car this weekend to install a Sparco seat. Is the inboard stock lap belt (female connection) detachable from the stock 993 seat so we can bolt it to the tunnel allowing for stock 3 point belts in town?

John Doe number 1 reporting:!
Yes it is. I'm using the BK eye bolt to mount the 3 point as well along with the 6 point Schroths I have. Both mount on the same point on the seat right now and I do not see a reason why you cannot mount them in the tunnel the same way!

Of course, lightening the flywheel not only reduces the mass that needs to be accelerated linerly (ie up hte road), but more important is the rotational acceleration. If I rember rightly, removing the equivalent of one kilogram at a radius of 1 ft is equivalent to removing 39 kilograms from the car!!

Aww crap. I had to add over 80 pounds for my 993 to get to G stock weight. I now weigh 3179 dry. A little over but gives me some wiggle room is the sccales are off that weekend.
If I took all the lead and steel out I could be down to 2740 dry weight. That would be nice. I really hate the weight penility our 993s have since the theoretical power advantage over the RSAs is not real as all my buddies make 255 RWHP or more with their 964 engine. I doubt my 993 motor will make any better when I rebuild.
