Default Installing gert's hd bilstein hd kit

Hey guys thanks for the help with my 3rd brake light last week. I will post pictures of my car once it looks cool right now it is a plain c2 coupe red/tan with 17 cup wheels. After spending a lot of time reading it sounds like I should start the slippery slope with some suspension mods. It seems like gerts hd bilstein/m030 sprinds and sways is a nice system that will fix the mushiness of my stock set up and drop the ride hieght. you guys seem to like gert and the 2000$ price seems fair. My only problem is who do i get to install this kit, I am usually a diy but this seems to be too much. I live in staten island new york so a shop in long island, nyc area or northern jersey would be great, i also could even go to philly since my girl lives there. I just want a good shop that knows what they are doing even if i have to travel

I would PM Speedraser (Todd) here at the forum. He can provide some names for LI shops that can be trusted.

I DIY'ed this job about 3 wks. ago and it was not that bad. Took less than 6 hrs. from start to finish and I had no idea what I was doing.

I just did the DIY on the M030 springs/shocks/sways and can say that it really isn't that difficult with the p-car write up as a guide. It was the first time I ever worked on the suspension on any car as a reference to my (lack of) mechanical expertise. There have been a bunch of threads where people have described there DIY experience with this mod. If you enjoy getting a little dirty and working on your car I would encourage you to try the DIY. Just have a good shop do the four wheel alignment afterwards.

I did the DIY using bilstein HD's and us m030 springs and i found it to be not too bad. It's all nuts and screws when you get down to it. The troublesome part comes in when you need a partner to line up the shock to the frame.
And here's my suggestion. Goto Kragen's or some other autostore and rent the spring compressor. They charge around 6 bucks a day so it's not so bad.
