try removing the fan belt sensor (its the roller that rides on the fan belt down near the distributor). these bearings have been know to dry out and make all kinds of noise..
I have not heard of many (any) 993 chain/tensioner problems..
Thanks, yes I have already removed and replaced the belt sensor. The noise is more like a grinding when I accelerate, it literally sounds like the engine is clanking. any ideas?
It is an engine problem...my concern is I let a mechanic listen to it and he said it was a chain tensioner problem...but I have found that it is very unusual for a 993 to have this problem. I am thinking lifters...
Be carefull with fan belt sensor
Mine after 18 hours of non stop driving
nothing happened but I didn't notice any noise,
belt was Ok so warning light did't come
