What to bring to 1st autocross?

I've had the same number for over a decade in my own region, but I have 2, 4, 6, and 8 in pairs for when I run out of region. With that many possible combos, you're bound to have a number not already taken. In fact, I have three different permanent numbers with three different groups.

One word of caution on magnetic #'s. It is not that great on the paint. I was told this by Hergesheimer, whom I trust whole-heartedly. They made numbers for me that are apply and discard. Laura made a few for me. I would highly recommend that route, or at least research the magnetic # issues.

I know that some people worry about magnetic numbers (and scratched paint). I've been using them for 2 years with no issues. However, I ALWAYS wipe the door and the numbers off with a microfiber cloth before I gently apply them. I also make sure not to pull them across the surface when I remove them. I use numbers on a "sign" background and not individual numbers.
We do a lot of back and forth as my wife and I both drive and have different numbers. No problems with them coming off for autox, but for DE make sure they are on flat before you go out.

how are those 'static kling' numbers? Do they stay put? Even for the higher speed of DE's?
I have been thinking of getting numbers made, but not sure what type?

What about these reusable stick-on numbers instead of magnetic numbers? I finally broke down and bought a set yesterday, but it looks like I may need to get more than a few to cover outside of my region's events.

I have been using magnetic numbers on my midnight blue metallic (which shows every tiny little scratch or swirl mark) for several years without any problems. I bring a bottle of Meguiars Quick Detailing spray and wipe all the dust off the door before I apply them. I also keep the numbers themselves very clean. I use some of that blue painters tape for higher speed events, and I’ve never lost one.
Most groups will permanently assign you a number (you can request one if it’s not already taken). I got lucky and got number 993 in several groups already. Part of the reason I chose that number, besides the obvious, is the two nines. The magnetic 9’s can be 6’s as well. This gives me a lot of choices of numbers to use if someone else has 993. So chose a number with a lot of 9’s or 6’s and you’ll be good to go!
