Too much oil?
Just had oil/filter service on my newly-acquired '98 C2S...manual says "approx. 10 qts"; shop used exactly this amount. The dash gauge is reading @ the ten o'clock position, not quite all the way to the top mark. Dipstick reading is all the way up to the very top of the full "twisted" section. Is this o.k.? I understand that overfill can be a bad thing. Should I ask the shop to drain some? Thanks.
I had this recently and was worried about spilling. So far nothing spills even going up my steep drive way. The only thing i notice is i lose some of RSR muffler sound (maybe just my imagination)and, to me, indicating that it does affect how the engine work.
I am not an expert but from what i heard, your engine may have too much deposit that cause the level of oil to be too high. If you take your car out for a long drive, it may burn some of the deposit and lower your oil level.
I am waiting for someone to confirm/correct this...

You're at the limit, but sounds like you're still ok.
Drive it nice and hard (once engine is all warmed up, blah, blah, blah...)
I try to keep dip stick at mid-level.
Can't see any reason why "RSR sound" should be affected..

If you keep dip stick at mid-level and your gauges show at normal levels, then this explains why mine show high. I always add oil to keep the oil at the max line of the dip stick which is like you mentioned, at the limit. I'll keep it lower next time. thx.
