Post Value post crash

Some dumb *** pulled a nasty sudden U turn in front of me today from the far right lane...needless to say, got munched <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" /> ...still crying over my baby.

My question is, what happens to the value of a 95 911 Cab after an accident, assuming perfect repair from reputable shop? Damage is nose, hood, right quarter panel, airbags.

Also, anyone have anything to say about Matt's Autobody in San Francisco (recommended by Alan at The Stable...says they work on his personal cars...)

Going to go drown my sorrows... <img src="graemlins/crying.gif" border="0" alt="[crying]" /> <img src="graemlins/crying.gif" border="0" alt="[crying]" /> <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Obviously it could have been worse, but that's small consolation. Fortunately, I assume you're OK & the damage is repairable. When you sober up you might want to review this thread begun by (coincidently ???) another '95 cab owner. BTW, his car looks great after the repair. Fact remains - the car will likely have a diminished value resulting from the accident regardless of how expertly repaired.

Sorry to hear about the accident. I am always checking my rearview mirror at red lights to see if some idiot is going to rearend me.

Cecil and Carol Beach of BodyStyles in San Jose specialize in Porsches and do excellent work. I have had several cars repaired by them.

Good Luck!

Sorry about the crash and hope you're okay.

Crash damage if properly repaired will still reduce the value of a private or broker sale by approximately 10% (IMO). If done right, and you plan to keep the car, it shouldn’t be an issue. If you need to get rid of the car I would recommend you trade it in at a Porsche dealer. Usually they have no idea, or inform a potential buyer, of the repairs. IMO, fix it, keep it and enjoy it.

I guarantee you the dealer will know what happened if they have been in the business for more than 6 months. I traded in a Maxima that had the door replaced (it was repair correctly and color matched perfectly) and the used car manager picked up on it right away. Besides the fact that they have tools that measure paint thickness, you can rub you hand along the inside edge of a door or hood and tell it has been painted. A factory paint job will be perfectly smooth, a repaint will be rough.
