Default Windward victims

You may want to see this post on the racing board. Seems as if they haven't changed much.

Who was the guy on the 993 board that was gong to take them to court for never delivering a set of P-ss9's?

Sounds like they have a bad rep in general. They advertise in Panorama. Maybe the PCA should deny them space?

Fight the good fight!

Anyone who uses advertising C*** like this deserves all they get!

"Our beautiful Post and Beam warehouse, located on 2 acres of land just 30 seconds off Interstate 91, receives, houses, and ships millions of dollars of quality Porsche Products annually. In addition, we believe that our garage was meant to house our Porsches, and not to serve as a place of business. Unlike many of our competitors, we do not work from our basement, garage, apartment, or from a strip-mall, and when you call us you will not hear dogs barking or babies crying.

We guarantee quality, courteous, same day service and WE WILL NOT BE UNDERSOLD! "

Presumably the only crying heard is from their customers, the only dogs barking are from the Police!

- and one of the primary rules of selling - never slag off your competitors - it only shows how unprofessional you are......

Funny - the home page return doesnt work either

http://www.windward-perf.com/index.html

Now thats really sloppy web page production - in my opinion....

And its also hardly "state of the art" as sites go - in my opinion.

Meanwhile - tips on how to choose a supplier -

Tips: Getting the right supplier for your business

Know your needs
Make sure you know what you need. Don't be tempted by sales pitches that don't match your requirements.

Spend time on research
Choosing the right suppliers is essential for your business. Don't try to save time by buying from the first supplier you find that may be suitable.

Ask around
People or other businesses with first-hand experience of suppliers can give you useful advice.

Credit check potential suppliers
It's always worth making sure your supplier has sufficiently strong cashflow to deliver what you want, when you need it. A credit check will also help reassure you that they won't go bust when you need them most.

Remember price isn't everything
What your business can pay is important - but price isn't everything. If you buy cheaply but persistently let down your customers as a result, they'll start to look elsewhere.

Agree service levels before you start
It's a good idea to agree service levels before you start trading so you know what to expect from your supplier - and they know what to expect from you.

Don't buy from too many suppliers…
It will be easier for you to manage - and probably more cost-effective - if you limit the number of sources you buy from.

… but don't have only one supplier
It's always worth having an alternative supply source ready to help in difficult times.

They have a toll-free phone number. How many Rennlisters does it take to build up a decent phone bill?

That they are still practicing business the same way.
Do a search on Windward and you will see many stories of them taking individuals money and never delivering the goods. In short, they are crooks, and for some reason they are still in business.

They are advertisers in PCA and are National Club Race Sponsors. Read the thread I directed everyone to on the racing board and that may help explain also.

I think PCA does monitor complaints against vendors. I have been told that some of the officers do, the Pano editor does, and in rare cases the general counsel has become involved. I was also told that PCA has taken action in the past to eliminate advertisers and improper users of the Mart section in Pano, but does so without public fanfare.

If an individual member has first hand experiences he wishes to share with PCA about an advertiser, he should send an e-mail to the editor of Panorama (the address I have is porpan@mindspring.com) and copy Tom Bobbitt (tom.pca@***.net).

Great advice! But this company (and the disputes) have been focus on retailing parts, not wholesale distribution. Not really possible or likely for an individual to request credit reports, etc before ordering. Best thing to do is always use a credit card and ask around for referrals.

Actually Phil, grammatically Greg's usage of the word "THEY" contextually referred to the Racing board, not Winward as the subject line IMPLIES...Maybe if you were as adept at sentence diagrams as you are with Haiku, you'd have realized that...

Thanks for spelling it out for me Greg, I did read the thread you cited (before I posted, btw).
