Option code help
When going through my option code list under the hood it says L999 which, as far as I can tell, means 'Metallic Paint-to-Sample'.
Slate Gray Metallic would be L22D.
Would like help figuring out what colour my car is.
Here is the option list sticker under the hood:
I can't find any other stickers on the door sills or engine compartment that might indicate colour.
Appreciate any help.
Thanks
The label is partly covered by a Velcro strip and if I try to remove it the label is getting damaged.
I can make out: 22D 9 3
so maybe it is Slate Gray Metallic after all. Lol
I may try and carefully pull the Velcro strip off the label on driver side fender. Maybe a heat gun and plastic scraper???
this is what Im dealing with:
2) Slate Grey Metallic was only a standard color in '95 model year
3) You have a PTS car as indicated by L999 on the hood sticker
Likely, someone wanted this color desperately and was disappointed to learn it wasn't a standard color beyond '95. So they paid extra to get it.

That makes sense.
Thanks for the info!

As for the velcro, yes, try some light heat on it and then peel a corner and try to roll it off with your thumb. The finish of those stickers is a bit delicate, so a plastic scraper may leave some marks on it. For that reason I wouldn't scrape on it personally.
If any glue is left behind, try to remove it with your thumb. Heat, let it cool just slightly and try to roll it off. You want the glue to "booger up" as you roll, not smear because it's too hot. I normally use Goo-Gone but I'd be concerned with it wiping away the lettering on the sticker which is why I'm suggesting the dry method.

If the sticker gets ruined, you can always have a copy made by www.carbone.pl (I had one made when I color-changed my car and it is excellent) but it helps to at least have a photo of exactly how yours looked and how the color name was spelled out. There's sometimes some variances, especially with L999 cars.

Schiefer Metallic
I assume that is the same as slate gray metallic??
Schiefer Metallic == Slate Grey Metallic
And this is exactly what I was implying above about seeing how it was spelled out in case you want to get a replacement made by Carbone. Almost all of the L999 cars I've seen (PTS) typically (but not always) have only the German version of the name on the paint code. Typically North American cars have both the English and German names.
