Default Do we still need the 993 Wire Harness Website?

Guys, my website subscription service is up at the end of the month. I am not going to pay for another year. So the question is this: Should I try to find a new home for the 6 wiring harness recall pages from my site? I am sure Robin could put them on his site, or other options are also available too.

But do you all think we still need those pages, or should they be allowed to die an honorable death after serving us all so well?

FWIW - I still get about one email a month about the recall, but I feel the dealers should be the current source of information. So I am tempted to let it die, but won't if you all disagree.

And finally, if some technical member wants to scrape the pages and put them on their site, feel free: http://www.pcarracing.homestead.com/wiringharness5.html Note that at the bottom of each page is a link to the previous page.

Thanks,

E. J.

I think they are of historical value and set a good example for others who think they might have a design defect with a vehicle.

Looks like valuable information, but somewhat confusing. It seems that you did not get Porsche to fix the problem on a recall for your car, but there are other references to there being a recall by Porsche. I was a little confused. I bought a 1996 993 not too long ago, that is why I was concerned. I cannot imagine a dealer doing a replacement unless it was under a recall or you are willing to pay for it.

I agree with Kim there must be many many people out there who do not yet know they have a problem!

As Assistant Secretary, 993 Register, Porsche Club Great Britain, it would be useful to me if these pages remained available .....

Rennlist pages are the appropriate place IMHO.

Cheers, Maurice

Mine's done, so I don't need it.

By your description, however, if get inquiries probably need something around someplace. HOWEVER, all you need is that "Porsche has issued a recall to replace wiring harnesses on certain Porsche 993 (add years/VIN/whatever). Please contact your dealer or Porsche Cars North America (add website) for more info."

PERIOD - DONE!

(Need for an FAQ list someplace?)

Hey guys.. Thanks for the heads-up VB!

Jen and I just arrived 1000 miles away for the Rennlist 944Fest. We drove my 993 - and one ticket later - we arrived....

E.J. - I'd be pleased to host that site for you - no charge. When I get back (I think Monday/Tuesday) - I'll send you a PM about the setup, OK??

Sorry about the delayed replay - but I've been "driving" for the past few days...

John

Hey Cool. Thanks JohnD. I didn't want to taint the poll or my inital question with my own opinions, but I feel they should stay around somewhere. Thanks for stepping up.

Robert, no worries. Someday we'll meet at the track.

E. J.
