Question Wheel Offset 17"

I have an early '95(9/94 production date) 993 with 17" Cup wheels. The offset on both Front and Rear is 55mm. I understand that the factory spec is 55mm front and 70mm rear. Two questions: a) will the 55mm offset on the rears cause any problem, and b) I am looking for an extra set of rims to mount track tires on. Should I get 55mm or 70mm for the rears?

Thanks.

Jes,

The 17" is 55mm front and rear, only the 16" wheels are with 70mm offset at the rear. So I am not sure where you got the number 70mm for the 17" wheel from.

There seemed to be some confusion on whether it was 55mm or 70mm on earlier threads on this board. Topic: Offset/Wheel Fitment? Also, when I started looking for used wheels I came across both 55mm and 70mm offset rims that were being represented as "Porsche 993 OEM spec". Finally, I checked p-car.com Tire & Wheel specs and saw the spec as 70mm for 17" rear rims.

So, I guess the consensus is that the 55mm offset is correct. Thanks.

Some very early 993's came with rear 9" wheels with a 70 mm offset. At some point, the factory changed to a 55 mm wheel.
