Impact Wrench: 3/8" or 1/2"?
Folks-
Need an opinion:
I already have a small, inline 3/8" IR (I like thier tools) air wrench/sockets for zipping out small stuff. I want to get a higher torque impact wrench for doing lugs/suspension/exhaust/etc. I'll be using this primarily for servicing my P-car as well as family cars-no heavy track time where I'm zippin' wheels sets on and off.
Can I get a decent 3/8" drive to do the job and use my existing impact sockets or is 1/2" the way to go? Also for anyone who uses IR stuff, any recommended wrenches?
Thanks!

1/2" drive impact wrench. I've never understood 3/8" impacts; seems like anything that small I don't need an impact for. There must be a good application for them, I guess, I just don't know what it is.
I've got the Sears-branded equivalent of the IR 2131, and love it; I think they make even smaller/lighter ones now - a Titanium model? - but don't know the cost.

I've started using 1/2" drive cordless tools (18v) as much as possible and I love it. I'm also getting a 3/8" for the smaller items. These things really speed removal and assembly of items. They are better on the ears too.
I also have an IR 1/2' air impact, but even though it was rated pretty high on torque, it seemed to be a little lacking. I bought a Snap On 1/2" that works great. I never saw the need for a 3/8" impact.

Thanks guys. I picked up the 1/2" IR 2131 and ordered some soft lug sockets. I will try it out as soon as stuff arrives.
