Thanks for all of the advice and friendship over the years!
I think you will enjoy a newer 911. I have had several generations beginning with a 1972 911T, '84 targa, 993 C2, (2) 993TT's, 996TT, 991.1 GT3, 991.2 GT3, 991.2 GT3RS and 991.2 turbo s. To me, each one was better than the one before. My favorite of all time is the newest, a 991.2 GT3 RS with PDK S, it's just so special! Enjoy your new car!

Congrats on the retirement!

I am months away from retirement myself, and I cannot bear the thought of not having my 993! I just hit 190k miles this weekend, in fact, as it had been my daily driver for yeeears! Runs as taut as it did when I got it at 50k miles. What "stress"?!!! It is rolling art that I have the privilege of enjoying daily! Shoot, if anything, I may consider selling the SC, but never the 993 if I can help it!

Wait - did I do it backwards? After years of new P cars I finally got my 993 C4S two years ago when I retired and would have time to tinker and cruise around! Cayenne S is my daily and gets less and less use!

Enjoy the 992 and congratulations on your retirement......

When I retired, I went from a Cayenne GTS - the work 5 seat car, GT3 991.2, 993 cab to keeping the 993 (25 years now) and trading the GT3 (too expensive for me to beat up on track and not a good daily) and the Cayenne (had another SUV).......... pocketed some cash - $40K, and bought a 991.2 Turbo S to be the daily retirement car, wife has the Highlander for hauling stuff........

Lol, your situation sounds familiar. You have a couple of years on me, retired 2 years ago, got bored, now work for a friend part time. Pared down to 2 pleasure vehicles and likely sell one later this year but the 993 will be the keeper. Probably sell a motorcycle or two also.

Very curious as to your thoughts after 992 ownership for awhile...........

Congrats on the retirement! I'll definitely post my experience. I received these renderings of my spec from Porsche at breakfast this morning

I'll add my sentiments and well-wishes for your retirement but, at 62, I get the feeling that you think you're old and need to dial it back. Believe me, there's much more ahead! As for the 992, I'm sure it will be a very capable car but I think, within a few months, you'll realize that something's missing. It's an intangible called "involvement", a relationship between man and machine that, IMHO, the "Neu Classe" just doesn't seem to possess.

IMO, a newer GT3 manual or PDK and the involvement problem is solved with the reliability of a new car, great A/C and heat on demand, etc. And the GT3 manual is a beautiful shifting and feeling transmission. I have to admit, the newer 911's, including the turbos are missing involvement on the street, but not the GT3's. They are incredible machines that sing beautifully at 9,000 RPMS and provide so much feedback all around. They are very involving to operate. The turbo S is much more fun on a track when driven hard and really comes alive there, the problem is you can not drive it like that on the street and it does become a little boring in day to day use. For me, the GT3 never gets boring, ever and it offers everything you could possibly want in a modern sports car with a full warranty.

I appreciate everyone’s sentiments and I’ve learned to never say never! I don’t feel, look or act my age 😂. This is about a little more simplicity in life not a lack of capability. My wife and I are looking forward to weekend trips in the 992. I just would never do that in a 993. I admire those that do, but I’m not wired that way.

Maybe we’ll see another old car one day when we downsize, but the ones that I like are just so expensive I’m finding less and less value in them. That said, maybe I’ll park some home equity in one when the time is right. Not much risk in that as long as we can buy gas I guess! For now, I want to enjoy driving again. So many collector toys in the past 10 years…I let that part of the hobby get away from me.

That's a nice spec Mark, you'll love it I'm sure. Something tells me you'll be back in a 993 some day. Maybe when all the madness around values settles... if it ever does...

Thanks David! It’s got everything that I want (although I was back and forth on a manual vs pdk). We’ll see what the future holds, but I suspect 993 prices aren’t coming down any time soon.

Good luck with the 992!

Looks like you have no shortage of things to enjoy driving!

Nice 67 btw, my love of cars started with old Chevy's so they hold a special place in my heart. Here's my 67 painted Porsche Ocean Blue Metallic with a 550hp LS3, DSE front clip and C4 IRS with a custom cantilever shock setup. Would love to see more of your Camaro.

Awesome 67! I bought my first 67 in 1979 and have owned 35 of them including 9 67 Z’s. Here are a few pics…
