Default Slippery Slope is a Down right Feel Fall...

I sold my Harley-Davidson to buy a slightly damaged 1997 993 Cab. The repairs were simple and the car came out great. The prior owner had every maintenance done at a local dealer and the car was stock and beautiful. I pointed out to my wife when I bought this car that it perfect and would not need a thing after I had the bodywork done.

Well….I never understood that slippery slope stuff until I owned the 993 for a few months. But, as I pointed out to my wife, these were important changes that just had to be made.

First the blue interior just didn’t work for me. A color change was in order. And I needed heated seats. Hell, at times it can get below 70 degrees in the Los Angeles area and I didn’t want to suffer. And that 4 spoke steering wheel was unattractive. And that exhaust was way too quite. So, I now have black heated seats, a nice 3 spoke steering wheel with a silver crest and a black interior. The unbaffled Supercup exhaust also works well so I can properly monitor the engine note.

Now I have just taken delivery of ROW M030 springs and Bilstein HD shocks. The 22mm front and 20mm rear M030 stabilizer bars were a must of course to compliment the new springs and shocks.

I have enjoyed the input from everyone on this board very much and have made many modifications based on the information from my searches from past postings. I would like to first thank all of you that have made some great suggestions in your post. And at the same time put a strain on my pocket book and marriage.

In the long run I will derive much pleasure from this fine car. Thanks guys and gals for your help. Next stop, WestEnd alignment to have all these suspension parts installed.

Slippery slope hell, it’s a free fall!!

Oh boy, black heated seats in California...
I have grey unheated seats in southern England. But its a targa with heat gain from the sun. And big 2 inch holes x 4, in the airbox for sound over 4000 revs as the varioram kicks in. But we have speed cameras everywhere invented by a perverse Dutch guy called Gatso. I did 4000 miles in the USA last month, without seeing a single camera. Heaven.

Chuck,
If you don't mind, how much did it cost to have your interior color changed? I assume you did everything from carpets to trim, yes?

I remember telling my wife that I spent so much on the car so that I _wouldn't_ need to spend more money and modify it..

Well John, it's a good thing that Jenn doesn't read your Rennlist posts so you can quietly plan your strategy.

For some reason - I'm not sure WHY?? - The 993 Forum won't open for her? Must be a computer "glitch" on her end???

I told MY wife that BECAUSE I am getting a turbo it would need nothing else, NOTHING!!. In less that one year my mod list looks like this:
Fabspeed By pass $500
PSS9's $4000 with corner balance
Billet diverter valves $200
BMC air filter $100
New Roock Wheels $2000
480hp ECU $1000
Look on my wifes face when I ask for $4K for modded Kevin turobs
Priceless.

BTW anybody have a spare room ??

Chuck W,

For those of us who have been free falling off the slope for some period of time, may I say, you are only peering over the slopes edge and imagining what it might be like to be free falling ;-)

Like Paul, I have been immune to the mod bug.

HRE 540R's with MPSC's are for safety
Roock Comp wheels with Pzeros are for safety
GHL muffler bypasses are for safety
Euro front bumper/turbo s ducts, euro turn signal front/rear are for safety
Recaro Pole Positions are for safety
Schroth harness/harness guide are for safety
3 spoke steering wheel is for safety
Cargraphics aux oil cooler is for safety

Crested valve stems are the only non-safety related mod! No problem here.

Umm - I believe those might be considered a safety item. You wouldn't want to use a "non-crested" cap, which are not Porsche authorized, as: a) - fitment of non Porsche items may invalidate your warranty; and b) everyone knows that the Crested caps add 5HP - AT EACH WHEEL. More HP is actually "safer", as it allows you to escape from dangerous situations faster...

Just an observation - not necessarily the truth..
