I've spoken to several mechanics that recommend replacing the Oxygen Sensors at around 75K miles. Has anyone else heard that? Anyone done the replacement themselves?
Sounds resonable. As the O2 sensors gets old the "reaction" time slows down, in other words the voltage change that the DME uses to change the fuel mixture doesn't happen as quickly as it should, and it would effect the performance of the car.
I feel that they all should be replaced at least once every 80k-100k miles as with other routine service items.
To save cost for OBD2 cars I would just replace the two fronts O2 sensors before the CAT. and replace the 2 set after the CAT. only after the OBD2 computer have a problem with them later on. Since only the first two sets of O2 sensor actually provides the fuel mixture data.
