Beirut is a beautiful city, but Dubai is fast taking over as the Hong Kong of the Middle East. There are more tourists going to Dubai than Egypt!!!!! If Dubai had the climate of Beirut, it would be the premier destination ever!

Dubai is very nice guys (really adore Burj Al Arab) but IMHO lacks the history, class and finesse of Beirut - it feels too artificial.

I understand what you're saying.

I guess I can put it this way:

Beirut feels more European in terms of history and class e.g. Venice, Stuttgart, Copenhagen

Dubai looks more Asian in terms of architecture and history e.g. Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur
