ALMS race @ RFK
John, it was hot today. I looked like I suffered 3rd degree burns on my face. Wear a hat or bring sunscreen. It was all worth it. The sound of the Tommy Bahama V8 Corvette come roaring past is something I won't soon forget.
Can agree to a degree. Digital viewfinders are my biggest complaint, esp. on an overcast/low light day. Also, viewfinder blackout when you press the shutter is a major PITA (am using a Sony DSCF707). Howver, I think some of the delays between when you press the shutter button and picture is taken is common to most auto focus/auto aperture cameras, incl. film. When I use shutter priority and manually prefocus, delay is reasonable.
"Pre-focusing" accomplished by leaving focus in auto, aiming camera at approx. point wher I want car to be when I shoot, press shutter partially down, then while holding the shutter button down I switch to manual focus. Works pretty well. To eliminate more delays, I manually set aperture too (use above shutter partially closed method above to find aperture at point where I would like to shoot, remember it, then switch camera to total manual and insert this aperture in the manual setting.
With more and more practive/playing, I've gotten to like the Sony more and more. Have no desire to go back film. Just some thoughts.
Sample of about 60 pictures I took this weekend at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix with this camera.
