Rob,

I have no idea how the star rating works. Mine used to be blank until recently they went to 5 stars. I never did anything towards it. Having said that you can hide the star rating from your profile altogether.

By the way, I rated you with 5 stars, but it doesn't seem to have affected your rating at all.

What the hell....

Cheers Riccardo,

I'm not really vexed, just confused about the philosophy behind the rating. I thought this site was supposed to be just a bunch of diehard porsche nuts, not a golf club.

Hi Rob, Tito,

My HID order was shipped today, so should get the bits tomorrow. I mailed them to say you would probably contact them soon. I ordered online, and they already have our three names down for the deal. They will debit the full amount at first, (PayPal or something), and then refund your card afterwards (providing three of us get them, so hurry up and get ordering!).

BTW, I rated you five stars as well... us Brits got to stick together! Obviously the system has got it in for you and you are destined to be a 2 star bod for evermore though....

Cheers
Eric

PS, am heading down to GT-One on Sat, so will get a chance to look at your Turbo there.... you did say I could take it for a drive the other night didn't you????

I don't remember saying that Eric! Mind you I might have started babbling after that sixth pint...

I will go ahead and order those lights next week. I just want to sort out the GT-One bill first

Maybe my car will be ready tomorrow - I might meet you down there...

Hi John,

I got the kit. My first impressions are yippee and arrrrhhhh !!! what have I got my self into!

So I am emailing to ask for advice/help on how to install the kit.

From what I can gather the wiring harness has several connections this is where I get lost/confused.

1. connection to the balast -seems pretty straight forward (can only fit one way).

2. connection to the positive and negative terminals of the battery ( the positive one with the fuse). How do I get this through to the battery ? And can I disconnect the battery without having to reset the error memmory ( airbag warning lights etc.)?

3.halogen lamp connector. I assume that this goes to the connections that the original bulb are connected to , but I have only one wire here - which bit does this connect to.

And I thought drilling the cover was the hard bit?
I should stick to cardiology its alot simpler by far!!!

I will post this on the forum incase any of the other guys have any input.

Cheers
Tito.

Tito

Don't panic. I just sent you a couple of EMails but guess they were your work address. So, go back to page 1 of this long running thread and look for a post from Dan in St Louis. He pasted a copy of the address at which John W stored his installation and wiring photo's. Take a look, this shoud help solve your problem. If you are still stuck then send me an EMail and I'll see whether I can help.

Tito,
congrats on sorting your lights !
I did get your voice message, thanks.
I gave the wife the phone while we were wandering around the ski & snowboard show on Saturday, so myself and my mate could ring them if need be (girls were looking at clothes, guys were looking at skis and women )
If anyone else went, I'm talking about the tic-tac women

Rob,
personally, no I don't.
I asked the chap at Autolamps about the differences, and whether they were worth the extra money.
Here is a snippet taken from his reply talking about HIDs :

"
While giving a significant improvement in lighting
performance in some applications the result for some owners was not Blue
enough. As the global volumes increased the demand on Philips for a product
that gave a bluer result for the aftermarket increased.

You can change the colour in 2 ways. Add a filter to the glass such as with
the BlueVision or change the internal salts and gases. Both solutions cost
you light output. In the end the engineers in Aachen (where the lamps are
made) chose the salts and gases route as this lost you less light than with
filters. The result in simple terms is that you increase the colour
temperature by approx 60% but you loose approx 20% of the light out put.
Because the Ultinon lamps is so much hotter many drivers perceive that they
are brighter. The reality is if performance is of primary importance the
standard lamp is better. If you want the colour and to get noticed the
Ultinon is the best choice. Now is that worth the extra money?. That I am
afraid can only be answered by the individual driver.
"

By the way, the MD of Autolamps used to 'Head up the European operation', to use his own words

Cheers,
John.

Nuff said John,

Thanks for the feedback. I'll sort this piece out as soon as the car's back on the road. I don't give a rat's a$$ about posing with blue lamps. The car's ostentatious enough
