Default If you had an extra $2000

If you had an extra $2000 burning a hole in your pocket, had a stock low mileage 993 and wanted to start down the road of modifications, What would you choose to do...

In your opinion, Whats the biggest bang for the limited bucks?

Even though I have yet to do it, I would probably say new shocks & springs. However, the $2k would just pay for the parts and you would still have to pay for installation & re-alignment which could bring that total up to $3k.

Others may suggest a new exhaust, maybe, but I would put my money on suspension items.

the 'thing' about my stock car when i bought it was the 4x4 ride height, esp. the front aiming to the moon.
$2k would come close to getting you new Bilstein HDs, H&R (or other) springs and install/alignment.
Your car will look a lot more purposeful. Handle better; and your stock struts/shocks will need replacing soon anyhow.

Or, you could put on a big honkin' nitrous system!!

I just did the Bilstein HD's and eibach springs, and had an alignment, and its a fantastic new car. also did the rs clutch and lw flywheel while my RMS was taken care of. John D. helped me with the install(read: did most of the work while i stood there confused). Next on the list is a short shift kit, and probably GHL mufflers after that. So much for a stock 34k miles 96 Coupe.. In true HWFM fashion, I am taking my time with the slippery slope

I echo the above, Rennlist membership...than sit on the $2,000 until you have enough for the suspension. Until you do the suspension, you will be driving a "couch".

Like the others have said, save up for the suspension! Biggest transformation for the money.

Tires. The biggest bang for the buck are tires.
Followed by suspension.

Speed,

You need to specify what kind of 'Bang' you are looking for. Do you mean performance improvement or looks? If you are talking about a performance upgrade, suspension would be the first thing on my list. Any of the components already mentioned, are the way to go. If it's an improvement in looks of your car, then changing the stock wheels would be my first mod. (Of course if you get lighter weight wheels, that would help both performance and looks!)
