Default Gert's FBP question

Does Gert's FBP replace the small black "spoiler" under the front bumper of a C4S?

Yes, mine was pretty useless until it got chewed up and I replaced it with the FPB.

It can be replaced or added to.

In my case I just couldnt remove the small black chin spoiler so I left it there and added the FPB also.
This takes much longer to do as the chin spoiler keeps coming in the way when trying to fit the FPB.
I managed it by cutting away some of the rubber (that was coming in the way) on the back of the rubber chin spoiler.

Both with or without look good. The rubber chin just covers the FPB so you dont see the metal.

Jastx,

Gert's FPB will fit a lot better and cleaner w/o that little chin spoiler in the way. But it may be a PITA to remove w/o the bumper cover off.

The little chin spoiler comes off easy. Only 2 - 3 or maybe 4 screws.

Jastx and Frank,

I think the chin spoiler is riveted in place. But if you get the nose up, a battery operated drill would make sort work of the aluminum rivets. The FPB does fit 100% beter w/o the spoiler in place.

How is the chin spoiler removed? Does the bumper cover have to be removed first?

Mine was held by 3 - 4 screws.

Jastx,

The chin spoiler is attached to the bottom lip of the bumper cover with (take your pick) rivets or screws. Get the nose up so you can get in there and unscrew the screws or drill out the rivets. The bumper cover screws on the bottom of the car may need to be loosened a little to wiggle the chin spoiler off the bumper cover "lip" that it clips over. You shouldn't have to take off the bumper cover, just loosen it a little bit.

WIth the chin spoiler gone, the FPB will fit into the spot where the chin spoiler was and will look cleaner and more OEM.

Gary,

Front Protection Bar. Mounts under the front bumper cover, just where the plastic bumper cover ends and the trunk floor pan begins.

If your cab has the stock suspension, your ground clearance is adequate. If you lower the car at some point 1" or more from stock, it becomes a necessity to avoid (expensive) nose scrapes.
