Close up carbon hood pics?
Hey guys,
Does anyone have any close up pics of carbon hoods made by the different brands? I plan to get one but this is one of the things I'd really like to check the quality on first.
I only ask because I went to look at a carbon hood from Mashaw today and there were at least 5 spots where it had pulls in the carbon and the edges were finished off in some places where some of the weave had come out so there was only carbon thread going in one direction.
If you know of any place that lays up the carbon reasonably aligned I would be very greatful if you could direct me to them.

Theres is one up for sale on ebay. Since the seller is also in Houston you could probably contact him and take a look at it personally.

I'm not sure if I like the way CF body parts look on a lighter car like that, I think they look much better on dark cars. Also, I would think the weight saving would be more advantageous with a CF engine cover.

Jeff- How about a carbon front splitter and brake ducts? Just to complement the neon right .
But seriously, I don't like the look of a big wing in the back.

I know a lot of people would call this sacrilege, but can you just paint the CF to match the body?
I'm with Dave, as much weight as the CF hood probably saves, it'd make more sense to start in the rear w. the engine lid.

Robert. Yep I plan to get the decklid as well. I'm still swaying between getting it matched to the body or leaving it in all its ricer glory.
Feel up to a Kartzone meet sometime? The Houston group hasn't met up in a while.

I know that thiscoming weekend Sean is hoping to host a before & after event - test drive his car first, install a Weiner-special (tm), then test-drive afterwards. I think Steve must be paying commission!
This is, of course, assuming he gets his car back from Mike AND doesn't loop it into a ditch or anything . Danny, you're not going to monopolize ALL Mike's time this week, are you?

Hey, I just thought of something -- There's a CVAR race at TWS this weekend. Tons of vintage racecars turning out, and I have it on good authority there'll be at least a 195? Allard w. Cadillac V-8, a ~1970 McLaren Can-Am car, and probably a 1968 Porsche 906, among others. Might make a good target for part of the road trip?
