Seat does not move forward ?? .. help..
#16
has anyone used this method and not get the seat to "unseat itself". I have been bucking like I have been riding a mechanical bull for almost 15 minutes and my over weight neighbor just keeps watching me with this strange look.

I just got my new TT (finally a 9 month search is over) -- ill post pics later.
But, the only problem is that the drivers seat does not move forward.
It is 8way normal seat.
It moves in all other directions fine (recline, rake/tilt, etc), but is stuck all the way towards the back. I hear the seat motor trying to go forward, but it does not !! I tried pulling the carpet up in case it was jamming the seat, but it still doesnt move. Can it be too far back and somehow off the track??
What can i do, as i really cant drive well like this.
The passenger seat is fine.
help.. this is the only thing preventing my TT bliss ..

Be careful! There were some other threads on this, and several guys reported stripping the drive cables.
I was able to unstick my passenger seat by grabbing the top of the seat (at the headrest), and wiglging it left-to-right while pressing the button.

Blown seat fuse
My paassenger seat keeps blowing the power seat fuse?
I'll replace the fuse-it will work fine for a while then puff. Fuse blown.
Any suggestions to where the short may be?
Thanks Rich

Check underneath and see if the drive cable is there. it looks like a long dremmel shaft and it connects to the motor near the front of the seat. if you can hear the motor spinning and the seat is not moving then my guess is that this shaft is stripped or missing. its a common problem. you can search on my name 2nd993 here because i think i was whinning about that problem a few months back... before my gt3 seats when in..
remove the seat if you can.. its hard to remove when the seat is in all the way back. clearence to get at the bolts (which are made of some german form of cheese - they strip easily - similar to OldGuys college girlfriend). Some people have had luck replacing that cable without removing the seat.. but my guess is that those are people that have done that job before.
If you want a quick fix you can scavange the part from the passager side seat to make the fix and then order a replacement. someone here said they could get that part for $60? - i haven't found it for less than $100 - like to know where to get them myself.

if you're an idiot like me you can strip the passenger side cable in the process of "fixing" the drivers side cable and then buy 2 new cables for $100 each and go looking for someone more qualified to make the fix.

Rob,
Try the "bucking bronco" method, but do go easy. It may be as simple as the cable, and you don't want to break anything by trying to "unstick" that which isn't really "stuck."
Mine failed too, and it was simply the cable, of which you can check with the seat still in the car, depending on what position it's in. If you can't, then remove the seat and look where the cable meets the motor. Once you're in there, it it fairly straightforward.

Edit: just noticed this thread was started over five years ago! Oh well, great comedy is timeless.
