Default Lip / Spoiler under nose?

Is there a little lip or spoiler under the front bumper cover? Im thinking of a piece that is only visible under the car that sits where the front bumper cover meets the undercarriage ...
is this piece important? where does it attach. cost?
My new TT does not have it and the shop who resprayed the front bumper cover did not know about it.

yes there is a little lip spoiler. (the remainder of mine is laying in a box here somewhere )

993 505 523 00 is i think the right part number. price is about $100.

it is a plastic/rubber lip with an imbedded metal strip, that is then held to the body with a few screws IIRC (very few if the PO used it as a parking curb indicator as mine did )

I'm sure at 250mph the little rubber spoiler aids with air travelling underneath the car, but for me it was just annoying. I've clipped it a few times as well. The last major incident was in 2001 and half of it ripped off the riveted mounts (And what's with the riveting of it anyhow??).

It dangled like that (it's very stiff rubber) until about 2 months ago when I finally reaffixed it back to the front bumper cover. One of the stranger quirks of doing the turbo bumper upgrade...

As far as I can see, there's no point getting a spare one because it's riveted in place. It's not like you can actually remove it easily and replace it. However, if you do remove it, I don't see where it would have any negative effect.

If its the 1.5 foot rubber chin at the bottom of the bumper, You would be better off getting Gerts Front Protection bar

Any reason to get both??

I wouldnt have got the chin when replacing the front bumper had I originally known what it was. Alhtough its not expensive anyway.

Best place to get Gert's protection bar is from Gert at Carnewal.com
Not expensive, far more useful and fits at the same place as the chin would go.

Here you go ..... http://www.carnewal-europe.com/cpx_p93070.htm
