The Rumble: first pictures
Let me start by saying that I love my Northern brothers... I really do. But what a wimpy turnout. They only had five cars... oh sure, five very NICE cars, but only five nonetheless. They would be in the poor house buying the superior Southern team beer, except that the beer was provided as part of the gourmet BBQ that was arranged by Brian. But I digress...
A fabulous day. Ryan & I had to leave in the evening, while most of the rumblers stayed for the night and for Sunday's activities. I'll let others add in more details. Roughly 25 cars in all, we met at the very difficult to find, but well worth the effort, Biddle Park, near Lake Lopez. I can't describe the BBQ well enough, let me just say whisky-fennel sausage, wild boar sausage, and another... I've forgotten. The best potato salad I've ever had, wonderful green salad with bbq vegetables... and more. Did I mention all the free beer one could want?
We had a raffle for the freebies... lots of nifty stuff: Wheel Wax donated a bunch of product, all very appreciated by the recipiants. Rennlister Upshift (Jef) contributed two cup-holders, one was raffled, and one was given to Carlos, who drove the furthest. Brian brought some neat stuff from... oh rats... I forget. But wax, t-shirt, Porsche key fob, Lexol, and the one I was drooling for (beside the cup holder)... the racing tire-pressure gauge with bleed valve. Temple brought some cleaning rags, and I DID score a pair of cool bulbs for my clear turn signal lenses.
OK... I promised a few pictures... one-at-a-time. Here's the assembled multitude. Notice I grabbed a spot between two of the cuties... no dummy here:

I'll buy anybody a beer that can name this car. He told me, but I forgot... but I'd recognize the name. Hints... Not a Borgward, powered by Porsche 356, 1 of only 29 remaining in the world. Beautiful restoration:

Renee'. What more can I say. Oh, all right, lest Michael come over and smack me. 2 months ago, Michael shows up at my door in a nice M3, and wants a ride in my TT.
"Nice", sez he, "I gotta get me one of these".
A couple of weeks later he shows up with a great, but dead stock 993TT. A few weeks go by, and he shows up at the rumble with this! No slippery-slope for Michael, he took a nose dive off the 10 meter platform.
OK... back to the important stuff... Renee' with what's-his-name's car:

Group photo of a few of the great cars that showed up. Carlos is a better photographer, and he'll post some better pictures when he gets back to Vegas:

On the way home (Ryan driving), we had a typical Southern California brush fire that closed hiway 101. Don't mind the motion blur... I took this from the moving car:

Wheels? Wheels? Hmmm... never noticed. Oh yeah... lookee there... wheels. Kinesis K16 (I think) 19" with reversed lip. They look great. So do the wheels.

Great photos Steve! Fun time for sure. Drive home sucked. 4+ hours to go 180 miles due to the fire. Oh well, the last 80 miles were a blast. I'll post pics when I find my card reader!

Bill,
I think your are confusing Oldguy with old fartus emeritus. Oldguy is really old, where as I am merely "past my prime". I am singularly responsible for getting Oldguy into a 993TT, which earns me a death stare from his lovely wife Merritt. Just kidding, of course... right Merritt?

Thanks for straightening me out, Steve. Still, driving these cars it's obvious that none of us feels (reflects??) our age. At least while behind the wheel.
