#16
I was planning on doing a fluid change and was reading Jeff info on Amsoil, has anyone else had experience with Amsoil? Ilive in NY and have cold winters and was concerned.
Does anyone know the part numbers need for the washers and any other parts?
TIA

Tom, the washer part number is 900 123 118 30. It only take one (for the bottom).
Robin, I think you might have talked me into Swepco. I'll give it a try, thanks.

Tom,
I used two metal washers (one on the drain and the other on the filler bolt. I also replaced my filler bolt with a magnetic drain bolt to pick up more metal filings. They are interchangeable bolts.

Todd,
Using two magnetic bolts was discussed some time ago and our resident expert, Steve W. at rennsport said that could actually cause more metal to be floating around in your tranny. There was a reason why Porsche only installed one.

Had mine flushed (I know, I'm lazy) at TPS couple of months back with Mobil 1. I've been happy with it. Aside from cold notchiness between 1st & 2nd very smooth. Of course, now that the summer heat is coming on the 1-2 notchiness is going away rapdily.

I've had the same experience. When cold there is a crunch sometimes for the first shift between first and second only. Now that summer is coming, this does not happen. Other than that the Mobil 1 has made a noticeable improvement as the gears shift very smoothly. I did this myself, easy to do and very satisfying. I would recommend you change the gear oil once a year if you do 3 or more DE events and drive the car with some frequency.

Thanks Robin,
I flushed my transmission with Swepco 201 this weekend and I can’t believe the difference it made. I thought my transmission was fairly smooth until I drove it with the new fluid. Wow.
Also, it was really easy to do too. I bought a pump from Pep Boys for $5 that fit perfectly in the bottle (it wouldn’t pick up the last ¼ inch of fluid in the bottle, but it worked great). If I would have known it was this easy, I would have done it sooner.

You are looking at the correct product, Swepco 201. Those are the specs. Not sure if it makes that much of a difference, as long as it's a GL5.
