Sorry for the stupid question but what is this? I'm assuming its a sensor.
'95 C2 (early production)
I recently smogged it and think the tech pulled it out while trying to pick up engine RPM (California Smog)
I left it in but wondering if this affects anything I should be concerned about.

That's the temperature sensor. I think you'll eventually throw a code, but you probably want that working because it controls when to run the blower motor. It's probably fine for now but obviously going to give wrong readings as dirt gets all over it.

I'd say you need a new sensor as isn't the actual element supposed to be shielded by the plastic tube that is still in the mounting hole??
