Default Need 993 Info

I am selling my 03 Mini S and planning on getting back into the wonderful world of Porsches once again. On my short list:
993 Coupe 2wd
Boxter S
I have driven a 2000 Boxter S and really liked it. Have not driven a 993 yet but have always loved the looks and I can't imagine hating it. I want to be prepared to know the in's and out's of potential problems, years to avoid, etc.. And what is this motor port plugging up thingy that was a problem on some year models??

Thanks in advance, it's nive to be (almost) back!

Welcome to Rennlist. I would encourage you to post your 993 questions on the 993 board. You should get some good responses there.

Do a search, lazybones - topic's been covered many times before. And actually drive a 993 before making your final decision. Some love them, others don't.

Have you read the faq? Alot of your questions will be answered there. I could have bought a Boxster S for the same price as my used 993 but MUCH prefer the look and feel of the 993. Personal choice. I'd take a longggggg drive in one and you'll know what to do. The Boxster is very, very nice, but I wanted a coupe. I'd be nervous with a soft rag top in my area. Vandalism is always just a knife blade away.

Good luck,
Steve

Thanks for the advice guys. I was not lazy but it's been a while since I frequented the rennlist and I did not see the 993 section right away. I have owned mostly 944 cars x3 and 2-914 2.0's and 1-928s. Trying to get my see legs again

This is a topic that has been discussed here and on the Boxster Board at www.ppbb.com. I have both a 2001 Boxster S and a 1997 993 Cab. Both great cars and both very different. Go out and test drive a few. Between the info on the web and your test drives you're figure it out and be happy with which ever one you buy. Enjoy the hunt.

I see the sensitve and ever-so-helpful Mr. Calvo is back. Sorry we all don't meet you high standards of posts, sir. You need to go back to kindergarten and polish up your manners. It's getting old Ray.
