Hi Andy!

Yep - just go here:

Rennlist Direct.....
And you see a lot of accessories. I brought that site back up the other day - rather then trying to totally reprogram it, as I've been asked "where did it go" when I took it off..??

For example - I finished a "Centercap Gallery" the other day and a silver crest gallery from Rennlisters who kindly posted thier pics. As well - if the page magically "changes" while you are looking at it - it's not a computer problem on your end - it's only me adding stuff...

Whats the significance of the silver hood crest? Was it ever an OEM thing?

Other than looking cool, my opinion, it has no significance and is not a stock part. Their made by Ralph Booth Designs, I believe, John correct me if I'm wrong.

I still envy you guys for having TVRs. What a thrill ride. I was fortunate enough to spend some time in a Cerbera traveling from LeMans. Whoa!

Cheers,
Andy

OK - here is the "rest of the story" on the Silver Hood badges/Crests....

There are Porsche parts - and Ralph has an exclusive with the Porsche factory for distribution. Ralphs sells direct and to a few Porsche specialized parts suppliers - and he is a terrific person to deal with...

I also believe that the factory did, on some special production cars, use the Silver Crest? Like the Millenium Editions, etc.? I could be wrong - as I could never affford a limited edition P'car to find out for sure..

Also - I'm not sure that all Silver Crests/Centercaps are from Ralph? I know there were some cheapo repros available some time ago that flaked, etc.? But - I think those were scoffed up by the Porsche Lawyers (again - I'm not sure???). So - if it's not a Ralph Boothe "original" - "it's just a copy"

Best to you!

Thanks for the info.

Andy,

TVRs are excellent sports cars, but they are renound for going wrong, I saw a new one break down twice in front of me in traffic two weeks ago on account of the poor electrics. Most of the TVRs are also prone to overheating and some having their chain snap tearing the whole engine to pieces. I didn't fancy being "that" bloke on a hot sunny day stuck on the motorway hard shoulder with the hood open and loads of smoke billowing out as most TVR owners will know about, so i bought a Porsche 993. Having said that they are not bad value for money and when they work they are monstrous, I just need better reliability for my only car.
