Hi,

The PO lowered the car a little too much, and I tried to adjust the ride height today, with little success.

I stole the image below from Carnewal, the left pair of coilovers is for the rear, the ones on the right is for the front.

On the ones in the rear, height adjustment is made via the lower most right (red arrow), right? Or do you adjust height like the fronts, via the 2 rings at the bottom of the spring?

Also, is the sway bar end link attachment (blue arrow) welded to the lower most right (red arrow)? I couldn't get it to move at all.

Hi Hatchy,

OK - under the springs - you will see two collars - the one that sits under the spring "perch" will raise the spring "up" or "down". Under that collar is the "locking" ring. You have to loosen that one to move the top collar.

So - in other words... In the rears - seperate the top two collars - then screw the "top" ring "up" to raise the height. When you are done - move the second ring up too - to lock the top ring.

The lower lock tab (on the rears - the 3rd ring down) locks the drop-link (to the sway) mount in place - and for your install - has nothing to do with adjusting ride height..??

I can confirm what John said as well. I have the same H&R coilovers on my cabrio...

Yes sir. Except there are 3 "rings" on the rears - rather then the two on the fronts.

Also - if you need a set of Bilstein wrenches to loosen the rears - let me know - and I'll loan you mine. No charge. Just return them when you are done, OK?

I have a set of wrenches form another set of coilovers, it fits the top perch so I think I am okay, but thanks for offering!

I dont know much about the H&Rs, is the rebound/compression adjustable?

OK - for the lower locking ring - funny enough - an early 911 alt./fan wrench will work If you need the smaller Bilstein wrench, though - let me know?

No Sir. The springs are a set rate (albeit - progressive for the H&Rs). Also, the Bilstein HDs are not adjustible for rebound/compression via the strut. Those would be the Bilstein PSS9s, which differentate via the valving adjustment to set the damping. The HDs are set - but I don't know what they are set at compared to the PSS9s in so far as rebound/compression?

You can also use a screwdriver and a hammer in lieu of the specific wrenches in a pinch.

Here's a photo of my H&R rears, you can see the three adjusters that John mentioned. The top 2 use the same wrench, the bottom one is obviously smaller. I have not adjusted the fronts yet, is that small one the same
as the front adjuster??

Ron, I need an alignment anyway. How did your adjustment go? Any problems?
