If the Speedo still works but the Odometer and the tripmeter stopped, could this be anything other than the whole gauge. I know that the speedo is electric and receives some sort of electrical pulses but does the odometer get input from the wheel speed sensors mounted on each wheel or are those purely for abs/abd operation? Or does the speedo input come from another sensor - I think I might have seen somewhere -mounted on the gearbox? Next, does the Odometer use this same input and just get driven off of internal gearing/conversion from speed to distance, or does this come from another sensor entirely?

The speedo get's it's signal from only one speed sensor, and I think it is on the right side rear. (Not 100% sure about location)

That's the only signal that is used to display speed and change mileage.
