I just ordered GT2 steering wheel instead of old-looking 4 spoke airbag std steering wheel. Now I have to install proper 4-point seat belts and harness bar.

What is good choice of 4-point seat belts? I prefer Momo brand, as steering wheel is from Momo. OMP, Sparco and Sabelt are also acceptable choices.

Harness bar is most probably coming from Bey Krause or Weltmeister.

What are you going to be using this car for? I ask becuase for DE's and the like 5 or 6 point and a rollbar are the way to go for safety IMO.

Fun driving mainly. Friday-Sunday. Very few Open Track events. My idea is to rise public street/road driving safety as I lose airbag. Still, 993 is pure joy-car and 2 seats is ok for me.

Personally, I don't think a 4-point is any more safer than a 3-point. All 3-point belts must meet the same stringent safety requirements, and I've even tracked with my 3-point set-ups. Now a 5 or 6-pont set-up is an entirely different story since the anti-submarine belt(s) do one-up the 4-point set-up. IMHO, unless you're in it for the looks, either go all the way with a 5/6 point set-up or don't bother at all.

I agree with the others, I don't believe a 4-point is any safer than a 3 point. If you aren't going to track the car, I wouldn't worry about a harness bar and 4 points.

BTW, I would go with a 6 point, not 4 and not 5. 5 point belts are really uncomfortbale for us men where as the 6 points are les of an issue.

Lots of options here,....

I'd kindly suggest you take look at either the Schroth 4pt Harnessbelts which are a DOT-approved street legal, ASM-equipped seatbelt system or the competition 6 pt Profi III's.

Both are really better quality than Sparco, Momo, Sabelt, Simpson and stuff like that.

Two of my recent customers gave up on them (Schroth) because they strecthed out. They moved to Sparco/Sabelt. I have been using my Sabelts for 3 years now without an issues in either fit or comfort.

Wow,....highly unusual,....

After 8 years selling-installing-racing with them, I've not experienced that yet.

Schroth belts are a polyester, not nylon like some others and do have some "give" to them as intended.

I suppose it a "different strokes for different folks" sort of thing, much like helmets.....

Schroth is new brand for me and I'll take a look. They have comfortable mdel with the "spool". Looks good choice from the perspecive of comfort.

Can somebody answer to my next question. Is it posssible to use 4-point belts with stock 993 seats??? Usually belts are passed through the special holes in the seat.

I got mine from Steve and am very happy, but agree on 5 points being uncomfortable. I should have tried one of those extra 6 point subs Steve! Either that or wear a cup.

Hi Jack:

Schroth is very specific about seating with their harnesses; both the DOT-approved street harnessbelts and 5pt/6pt competition belts.

Seats with integral headrests, Porsche OEM seats, are not approved for use with the Schroth belts since the shoulder straps cannot be positioned correctly off the shoulders.

One must use either a seat with holes/slots for shoulder belts or one with a movable headrest so the shoulder belts can exit straight back to their anchor points.
