Post Help me before I spend again... Pss-9 Q's

Ordered up the Pss-9's last week. <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" />
At first, I was just going to go with the stock sway bars, but after thinking it over I sprung for the RS adjustables. <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" />

I'm probably going to use Weiner's hats for the rear, but I'd like to hear from people who've gone this route. How does it feel? I'd also like to hear from people who've gone the mono-ball route. How much ride quality did you have to give up? I'm also under the impression that they make ride height adjustment much easier.

Damn those things look cool--makes me want see-thru wheels.
Cheers,
Chris

I think I remember reading Silver Bullet has the PSS9 with mono-ball and reported that he did not notice that much ride harshness.

I'm getting my car back today (PSS-9, camber plates/monoballs & RS sways)! <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" />

I'll let you know how I like it. It will be set up pretty much as RSR (not RS) so it's stiff, low harsh etc. but that's the way I want it. We'll see if I want to adjust it softer for street or not (I doubt! )

Since this topic has been covered a bunch already, I sent you a PM about the hats.

re the ride height: That comes from one of the many Pss-9 threads. Possibly I misinterpreted it.

Jim I'm away from my email computer. It's at home, and I'm at work. I'll check it out later this afternoon.

FF Yes! please post your impressions!

BTW Anyone going to the Gree Flag event at Buttonwillo in March?

Thankx for all the replys. I'd have a hard time figuring out my options w/o this group. The guys-n-gals of the 993 board rock!
Cheers,
Chris

i have a water wasser, acustomed to the cadillac ride if you will. however, i drove silver bullet's car for some 500 miles on all sorts of road, except on track (don't worry kim ).... it's definitely firmer than stock, but harsh... no.. absolutely not. the monoballs didn't add any noises either. the only thing i heard is windshied squeaking, otherwise dead quite, well the exhaust is loud music though. go for it. i am adding PSS9 to my 996C4S soon.

I have gone to PSS9 with FVD monoballs all round since December. There is a slight increase in road noise in the rear, probably due to camber plate mounting direct to metal - in front I used a new standard gasket. Overall feel is fantastic, shocks @ 6 all round, M030 bars, GT2 brace, much more 'life', very confidence giving. On 18s, was stock RoW S suspension (M033) before.

A bonus is that the rear drop link height (for anti roll bar) can be adjusted by turning the whole strut while holding the bracket still - you don't need to drop the strut out (again and again) as on RS or OEM mount.

HTH, cheers, Maurice

I installed the PSS-9's a little over a year ago (thanks Steve Weiner), and at the time, used the stock rubber chassis mounts. Two weeks ago, I removed the struts/shocks and replaced the rubber mounts with monoballs from ERP. I did reuse the thin front rubber gaskets that go between the top mount and the chassis. I also made similar gaskets for the rears out of gasket sheet material from the auto supply shop. We are talking 1/16th inch thick rubber here.

Two things to report:
1 - Some increase in noise and harshness, but after adjusting the PSS-9's to a softer setting for the street, it is not unacceptable. In fact, I would say that the PSS-9's set on setting 9 with monoballs is no more harsh than say setting them on 4 or 5 with the rubber mounts. I do think the gaskets help with some noise isolation.

2 - After a full year of track time, about 25 days total, there was no distortion of the rear PSS-9 top plate where it mates to the stock upper chassis mount. In fact, once I cleaned it off with a little solvent, I could not tell exactly where the two surfaces had mated. It is a myth that these two pieces are not compatible.

Oleg:

The photo was taken last October on Movie "Road" at the Alabama Hills Preserve just south of Lone Pine. This is on the back side of Mt. Whitney. The site is used a lot by Hollywood for Westerns and Alien planets. The particular spot was often used for the "circling the wagons" scenes in Westerns.

During the rally I was on when the photo was taken, we were instructed to "circle the wagons" and locate the next instruction. Seeing how this is a PSS-9 thread, I can say that the ride is a little harsh off-road. A lot of other cars caught up to us during this leg...

Thanks for the inquiry
